Having a selection of templates on hand for your social media strategy helps you achieve brand consistency and will definitely speed up your content creation process!
But do you know what to do with them once you get your hands on them?
If the answer is no (or kinda or not exactly), that’s totally fine… and I’m going to help you fix that!
If you’re getting frustrated with the design aspects of creating kick-ass social media content, but don’t have the budget to hire a designer, I want you to know that it doesn’t have to be that way! I’m truly passionate about helping savvy solopreneurs succeed and I’m delighted when I get the opportunity to share more ways to help you do exactly that!
If you don’t have enough hours in the day to work on creating your own designs from scratch, I'm here to say that there's a perfect solution for you! But I’m not just going to tell you about it, I’m going to show you too!
And that's where Canva comes in...
What Is Canva?
Canva is pretty much the coolest thing to use nowadays to quickly and easily create custom graphics for your business!
Canva is a FREE graphic design tool website that uses a drag-and-drop format and provides access to over a million photographs, graphics, and fonts! It is used by non-designers as well as professionals.
The tools can be used to create stunning graphics for social media, print, web, and more! In a nutshell, it’s going to change your life and if you’re not using it yet, you totally should be!
How To Use Canva
I’ve created a video tutorial to not only get you comfortable with using Canva but to also help you get familiar with the most common tools available! I’m touching on all the basics so you know how to work with them and can become a pro in no time!
For demonstration purposes, I’ve used the free templates that are included in my Ultimate DIY Instagram Template Pack. So if you haven’t already, be sure to grab yours here first so you can follow along even easier! ⤵️

The Video Tutorial
My templates are fully customizable so you can make every aspect of them your own!
Edit text. Edit photos. Edit colors. Use them over & over again, the possibilities are endless! So let’s dig in and see how it’s done!
Here’s everything that you’re going to learn in my video tutorial:
1 | Text (00:00) → I’m breaking down how to customize all of your text, including how to edit the template placeholder text and how to use text tools to change fonts, size, colors, alignment, spacing, and default font styles. It's super simple (and super fun) to play with fonts!
2 | Photos (02:43) → You can add & customize your photos in all Canva templates! I’m showing you the ‘Photos’ section with Canva's searchable stock photo library plus I also explain the ‘Upload’ section where you can create a gallery of your own photos. I walk you through how to add photos to your templates and re-position them, then I show features such as filters, image adjustments, crop, flip, more!
3 | Colors (05:10) → It’s helpful to know how to customize colors for text, shapes, and more! I’m covering the 4 different sections of color palettes, how to add custom Hex colors, search for colors, set default Brand Colors in your Account Brand Kit, adjust color transparency, plus how to change the background colors & patterns.
If you haven’t already guessed, I’m a pretty big graphics nerd (and I may or may not have had my nerd glasses on this whole time!). 🤓
I would love to hear from you if you have any other questions about social media templates or using Canva that I haven’t already covered above or in my tutorial video! Please don't hesitate to contact me with an email or DM on Instagram!
And just in case I didn’t convince you to do so earlier, here’s one more chance to grab my FREE Ultimate DIY Instagram Template Pack to get you started on your way to brand consistency!
